👥Survey for craftsmen

Understand the needs and ambitions of your local craftsmen

What is it about and why is it relevant ?

A recurrent refrain about craftsmanship is the lack of skills of potential or new employees. However, this statement needs to be carefully analysed in the local context and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, if appropriate strategies are to be put in place to deal with the issue. A targeted survey is a tool that helps to better understand the needs and ambitions of local craftsmen in relation to traditional and new skills (digital & circular economy).

Specifically, the survey aims at identifying which are the missing skills requested to:

1) continue to deliver products and services as demanded by clients

2) improve the ways of manufacturing by the introduction of digital tools and machines

3) transition towards more sustainable or circular activities.

The survey will also help to question the craftsmen about their traditional practices and understand their familiarity with concepts like circular economy and digital machines. It also provides an insight about their will to invest and the obstacles that might prevent them to transform their business. The results of the survey might serve as a reference consulted by: vocational schools to adapt and refine their curricula, associations of craftsmen to organise ad hoc training, governments to design training strategies for unemployed people.
