Workshop on Certification

During one of the Pilot coordination call in CENTRINNO research project a workshop revolving around the topic of Certification for 21st Century Skills was held by Volumes and partners. The objective was twofold:

  • To comprehend the challenges and opportunities encountered by organisations on the ground in certifying their Vocational Training (VT) offerings.

  • To present a clear overview of the local certification landscape in the 9 pilot cities, elucidating their specific situations.

From this understanding, we aimed to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the steps that need to be undertaken in the future.

Practically, two distinct activities were organised. One consisting of a presentation featuring two case studies related to certification. Michael Araujo from Fab City Grand Paris, the leading association of the Parisian Pilot, detailed the process they underwent to have their Vocational Training Offer officially recognized by the French educational system. In the other Tomas Vivanco Larrain from Fab City Foundation and co-director of Master in Design for Distributed Innovation (MDDI) , an online and globally distributed Master in innovative ecosystems, presented how this master was conceived and how it assisted Fab City in overcoming the challenges of local certification.

The second activity involved the distribution of a survey, via a Miroboard format, to all Pilot cities, posing key questions regarding their stance on certifying their Vocational Training courses. Below the list of Pilots provides a summary of their responses about the certification process.
