Explore: Attendees can visit different maker exhibits and displays to see the latest technologies and creations from makers around the community. They can learn about new tools and techniques, see how different projects are made, and get inspired to make their own creations.
Play: it could include interactive exhibits and games that allow attendees to have fun and experiment with new technologies and ideas. These might include hands-on workshops, DIY stations, and other activities that encourage attendees to try out new skills and ideas.
Learn: is a great opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge from experts and enthusiasts in the maker community through workshops and talks to learn about different technologies, techniques, and creative practices. They can also meet and talk with other makers to share ideas and learn from one another.
Create: is all about making, so there are plenty of opportunities for attendees to get creative and make their own projects. Many Maker Faires include DIY stations where attendees can try out new tools and materials, and work on their own projects with the help of experienced makers.
Invent: Maker Faire is a great place for makers to showcase their latest inventions and prototypes, and to get feedback and ideas from other makers and attendees. Many Maker Faires include a competition or showcase where makers can present their inventions and compete for prizes or recognition.
The local team in Zagreb have organised the Maker Faire event since 2019 and they see it as a powerful tool to built and engage a strong and diversified community of makers for their Fab City Hub as well as to foster a culture of creativity and innovation to a broader public;
Furthermore, since the local team is still struggling in finding a stable place to set their Fab City Hub,
a valuable way for Fab City Hub to engage with the maker community and to support the growth of making and innovation in the community.
Local Outcomes 👍
The organisation of Maker Faire in Zagreb allowed the local Fab City Hub to obtain the following results :
→ Provided a space and gave visibility to the local makers' community working on innovative projects related to circular economy and up-cycling
→ Fostered connections among multidisciplinary actors ( students, creatives and SMEs)
→ Acted as a networking event for attracting future FCH's stakeholders and created opportunity for partnerships in new projects
→ provided a temporary space for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups from Sesvete, the neighbourhood where the Fab City Hub will be located, to showcase their projects and network with potential partners
