6. Toward CERTIFICATION for the CENTRINNO School

(to be finalised )

The importance of making Innovative skills recognised

It is acknowledged that learning occurs across diverse settings, taking place in a variety of situations and being facilitated by individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Moreover, in a world that is constantly evolving, lifelong learning represents a dynamic and transformative process that encompasses various forms of knowledge, emerging skills, competencies, and unexpected experiences.

Fab City Hubs have been identified as places that nurture these hybrid and fluid forms of learning. FCHs’ unconventional settings serve as convergence points where different actors, resources, and opportunities intersect and interact. People attending FCHs benefit from its multidisciplinary and innovative features, gaining access to various non-formal and informal learning opportunities essential for fostering a circular and sustainable transition within production chains. Moreover, the incorporation of innovative methodologies and formats, such as blending online and in-person classes, learning-by-doing practices, and open schooling methods, complements the more conventional forms of education acquired in traditional institutions.

The CENTRINNO School, a learning programme designed for FCHs , aims to bridge the gap among these heterogeneous forms of education, skills and learning environments. It achieves this goal by crafting innovative and unconventional training programs that foster the acquisition of cutting-edge skills for emerging jobs. In doing so, it contributes to long-term sustainable growth and the establishment of innovative circular economies. This mission seamlessly aligns with the current education objectives set forth by the EU Commission

The question of obtaining formal recognition for these innovative programs and further certifying 21st-century skills is far from straightforward but needed at the same time. This issue has been a crucial point requiring attention during CENTRINNO research project. A specific workshop addressing the question on Certification has been held by Volumes, in collaboration with Onl’fait.
