Geneva FCH Journey

The vision, the community(ies) and the physical and digital infrastructure(s) of the Geneva FCH

Geneva Fab City Hub Vision

The Geneva local team started the Centrinno experimentation project to launch and consolidate their FCH initiative with a clear vision in mind. Differently from other Pilot experiences, the Geneva team started the launching of their local FCH initiative already counting with the use of a specific space, hosted in a former industrial building as part of the industrial area of Charmille (ZIC - Zone Industrielle de Charmilles). The building called la MaCo is owned by the Municipality, but managed and inhabited by an association, La MaCo reuniting 7 different organisations involved in circular and sustainable practices in the field of woodwork, textile and digital technology. The vision for their FCH was to act as a broker between the MACO ( the specific space and the association) and the productive activities of the pilot area, as well as within a broader city-wide network of craftsmen, leveraging circular economy principles to reinforce a short local supply chain for a more sustainable crafts ecosystem.

This vision, as part of the FCH principles, also encompasses the integration of the maker culture into the educational and vocational systems, promoting their hub as an operational learning space facilitating access and opportunities for makers, and artisan to formal and informal learning programmes for acquiring innovative and circular skills.

To this end they develop and improved different vocational training offers such as xxx xxxx xxx as part of the CENTRINNO School.
