🛠️Resource Flow Mapping

A participatory workshop activity to kick start your FCHs' mapping of resources

What is it about and why is it relevant ?

This workshop template is a proposed participatory activity for Fab City Hubs and organisations to kick-start the mapping of resources inherent in local production communities. Building on the method of the Material Flow Analysis, participants from local businesses and industries are encouraged to map the key material and intangible resources they purchase, consume, generate or waste throughout their economic activities. With the help of worksheets and “resource cards'', pilots and participants explore, share and discuss opportunities and challenges to implement circularity in their businesses.

The purpose of these workshops for Fab City Hubs is threefold. Above all, it helps pilots to convene local stakeholders and provide a first platform to discuss the notion of circularity at the local level. Second, it is a means of data collection on locally available resources (or lack thereof) that can potentially inform the choices made when setting Fab City Hubs and their activities. Lastly, the workshop-based mapping of resources can be a stepping stone for Fab City Hubs to test and develop more efficient data collection processes on local resource flows in their wider community.
